Responsibility of Community Advisors
1. Grantmaking: with a vision for
the future of their communities, advisors:
- Review proposals and make grant recommendations using grantmaking
priorities that focus on assets and resources rather than needs
and deficiencies of a community.
- Act as liaisons between their communities and the STWDF.
- Share knowledge about local and regional issues or have networks
they may draw upon to provide that knowledge.
2. Development:
with a vision for the future of their communities, advisors:
- Believe that permanent endowment, local charitable resources
can help address a community's needs.
- Set annual fundraising goals, based on outcome of making more
grantmaking income available to the community.
- Build awareness of the STWDF by assisting in public relations
and media activities.
- Share knowledge of resources or have networks they may draw
upon to provide that knowledge.
3. Committee: each advisor:
- Attends meetings
- Participates in training and enrichment activities
- Identifies and recruits new advisors
- Contributes financially to the fund at a level at which the
member is comfortable.
Responsibilities of STWDF
1. Grantmaking
- Develop and mail materials for meetings
- Provide staff support at each meeting
- Inform Advisors of all STWDF programs for Advisors, community
and donors
- Prepare grant review materials and assist in review of proposals,
including receipt, acknowledgement, award/decline letters, and
completion report management.
- Organize community grant information workshops and provide
on-going technical assistance.
- Facilitate the orientation, involvement and on-going educational
opportunities for Advisors.
2. Development and Communications
- Identify potential donors with Advisors, seek to involve them
in STWDF, and solicit financial support for the Community Fund.
- Expand and refine mailing lists.
- Publicize all grant cycles and grants awarded as well as other
community-related activities.
- Support recruitment of new Advisors
